Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure in which excess fat deposits in certain parts of your body are suctioned away with a special vacuum. Liposuction surgery, contrary to popular belief, is not a weight loss surgery, but a body contouring operation. This surgery removes fat tissue that has increased in volume and is resistant to diet and exercise. Thanks to this process, the number of existing fat cells is also reduced.

Liposuction Surgery

Liposuction surgery should be performed under hospital conditions and under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. General anesthesia is preferred if multiple field applications are to be performed. Local anesthesia can be used in limited and small areas.

The surgery may take from 1 to 5 hours, depending on the area to be operated on. The cannula entry holes are sealed with dissolvable sutures. These sutures do not need to be dressed or removed. Sometimes a drain may be placed after surgery. These drains are removed after 24 hours.

Following the surgery, patients can be discharged from the hospital on the same day or after 24 hours.

Post Liposuction Surgery

Pain may be experienced after surgery and painkillers may be needed. Following liposuction surgery, a special corset is worn for 1 to 3 months to reduce both bleeding and serum accumulation. This corset also supports contouring and skin tightening.

Bruises, tingling, burning sensation and edema may occur in the areas where vacuum is applied. These effects will disappear spontaneously in about 1-2 weeks.
